About David Konyot
Born of two of Europe’s famous Circus families the Konyots & the Fossets. David was brought up in show business, Staring as a song and dance man in the 60s, he quickly established a successful career in variety and cabaret until in 1972 he stared in the West end of London in the long running hit comedy “PYJAMA TOPS”. Moving back into Circus in the mid 70s & he became one top ringmasters until in 1981 he combined the role of ringmaster with that of white faced clown in Germany’s famous CIRCUS BARUM. Since 1985 he has led his own musical comedy act and is also an innovative and award winning reprise clown, Multi lingual and talented Instrumentalist, Clown, Comedian, Ringmaster and Circus Producer are some of the many sides of David Konyot.

1968 – 1971 “SONG AND DANCEMAN”

David began in Cabaret and the theatre shows in his native England and soon established himself as one of the brightest entertainers of his generation, appearing in summer shows and pantomimes up and down the land. Moving to the west end of London to become a regular at many of the top nightclubs his talent was given full expression when he was given the leading role in the long running comedy “PYJAMA TOPS” at the Famous Whitehall Theatre.
1972 – 1982 “THE RINGMASTER”
By 1972 having fulfilled many of his theatrical ambitions David returned to his roots, Seasons with Chipperfields , Robert Brothers and Gerry Cottles Circus found him as one of the countries leading ringmasters, this was recognised in between 1976 & 1981 when he was chosen to act as assistant ringmaster at the circus world champions held annually in London, this period also included hosting the ROYAL JUBILEE at the famous Great Yarmouth “HIPPODROME CIRCUS” and the winter circus in Eindhoven in Holland, in 1981 David joined Germanys famous CIRCUS BARUM.
1982 - 1987 “MUSICAL CLOWN”
It was in 1982 that David combined the role of ringmaster & white faced clown and with circus director Gerd Simoneit, Circus Barum. 1984 saw David team up with the then relatively unknown Toni Alexis and quickly they became one of the most sought after acts in the business,. Seasons with Circus Merano (Norway) Circus Krone (Munich) Circus Rlfi Althoff Jacobi (Austria) and the Circo Del Oro (Italy) quickly followed until in 1986 David decided to statrt his own act, this decision led to work even further afield, Hong Kong Southern China with Gerry Cottles Circus, an appearance at the circus festival in United Arab Emirates and the appointment as technical director of the English National Circus in Kuwait in 1988.
1988 – 1994 “ BRITAINS BEST COMEDY ACT”
Taking his musical comedy troupe back to the U.K. after a season in Ireland with Fosset Circus, David enjoyed seasons with Chipperfields & Gerry Cottles Circuses between 1989 & 1992. Three Royal Command performances saw him entertain H.R.H. Princesss Diana and other members of the royal family. Further Recognition came with the award of “BEST BRITISH COMEDY ACT” on four occasions between 1989 &1993, & the “KONYOT CLOWNS” being chosen by the british government to head a road safety campaign throughout the country. David has often combined performance with production and in 1991 Producer- Director of “HIPPODROME CIRCUS” in England and in 1994 he became Producer/Director of Circus Harlequin one of Brittan’s newest and most innovative Circuses.
1995 – 2002 “RETURN TO EUROPE”
2003 - 2008
2003 was spent once again in Germany producing and appearing in " Classic Circus" culminating in a successful winter season with the famous russian clown "Popov" in the "Munster Weinachtcircus.
2004 - 2008
Five years with Irelands Premier Circus "Tom Duffys Circus" once again changing routines and reprises every season brought new challenges including the introduction of 9 year old Lily Konyot into the ring in 2007 in a comedy illusion and in 2008 into the Musical Clown Act.The winter season 2008/9 takes The Konyot Clowns back to france with the legendary CIRQUE MEDRANO.
2009 - 2011
Were spent happily with Zippos“Londons No1 show” where they received critical acclaim and by presenting new acts every year added to their comic repertoire. In November 2011 David and Anna were invited to take part in a lavish production of “CINDERELLA”for the charity “les enfants du Frankie” in the Grimaldi Forum in the Principality of Monaco. With a cast of over 100 and featuring many european stage and screen personalities including “high school musical” star Corbin Bleu, their appearance as“The Ugly Sisters” took the comedy plaudits for the evening.
After a Winter Season in Germany with Circus Barum 2013 see's the KONYOTS producing and managing the UK's newest Circus, CIRCUS FANTASIA, with the promise of a complete new show every year and Lili playing a major part in the show the future looks good for The Konyots.
